Hello and welcome to my first post!
Since this blog is mainly about renovating and living in our first home, I thought I would start with some background on it and how we got here. Our home is in Knoxville but we are not from here. Both my husband and I were born and raised in Mississippi, so I guess you would call us transplants. We moved to Knoxville from Oxford almost three years ago for my job.

I work as an archaeologist in the private sector. No, I do not dig up dinosaur bones and no, I am not Indiana Jones, but the job is still very interesting and it allows me to explore history on a daily basis. My passion for history is partially what lead to us living in a one room loft in a renovated warehouse when we first moved here. The other part was that the loft was downtown. We figured that if we were moving to a new city, we should really get to know it, and what better way than to live in the heart of it. Downtown living was a totally new experience for us and we loved it.

Eventually though we got tired of walking the dog and we wanted more than 670 square feet (and more than one room), so we decided to purchase our first home! I still wanted something a little older and after much searching and panic on my part, we found our single owner, 1950s rancher. She was very well taken care of by the family that lived here for the better part of 60 years, but she was a little outdated and just a little not our style. So we've been steadily working on her, and slowly but surely she is becoming our dream home.
And that is the start of our adventure at Luwana! Stay tuned for all the adventures to come.
P.S. The backyard has been the dog's dream yard since day one (but that doesn't mean I don't have a mile long to do list for it!)
